Who can join Sainik school
Sainik Schools offers admission to Class VI and Class IX, Admission is based on the performance of candidates in the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE). The final selection is based on school-wise, class-wise, category-wise rank in the merit list of the Entrance examination, medical fitness approved by competent Medical authorities and verification of original documents and such other criteria as may be prescribed by the Sainik school society. AISSEE 2021 will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
Scheme of Examination
Mode of Examination: Paper pencil on OMR answer sheets for admission to both Class VI and Class IX. Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions, Time duration is 150 minutes
Eligibility criteria
For admission to Class VI:
A candidate should be between 10 and 12 years as on 31 March 2021 for admission to Class VI, i.e. he/she should have been born between 01 April 2009 and 31 March 2011 (both days inclusive) for admission to the academic year 2023-24. Admission for Girls is open for Class VI. Age criteria are the same as boys. For admission to Class IX:
A candidate should be between 13 and 15 years as of 31 March 2021, for admission to Class IX, i.e. he/ she should have been born between 01 April 2006 and 31 March 2008 (both days inclusive)
Admission to Class IX is not open for girls
He/ she should have passed the Class VIII exam from a recognized school at the time of admission.
A candidate should be between 10 and 12 years as on 31 March 2021 for admission to Class VI, i.e. he/she should have been born between 01 April 2009 and 31 March 2011 (both days inclusive) for admission to the academic year 2023-24. About Rashtriya Military Schools
Rashtriya Military Schools are English medium residential Public Schools run by the Ministry of Defence on the lines of Sainik school to impart quality education to wards of defence personnel and civilians from Classes VI to XII. These Schools are the founding members of the Indian Public School’s Conference (IPSC). Established in the year 1925, these Schools are among the oldest Public Schools in India. There are five Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS) located at Chail in Shimla Hills of Himachal Pradesh, Ajmer and Dholpur in Rajasthan, Belgaum and Bangalore in Karnataka. Cadets are admitted into Class VI & IX through a Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted under the aegis of the Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Army).
Reservation Policy
The schools have the reservation of seats in the categories mentioned below:-
70% of seats are reserved for the wards of serving and retired JCOs/ORs those in the Army, Navy and Air Force.
30% of seats are reserved for the wards of Officers & Civilians.
50 seats are reserved for wards of service personnel Killed in Action.
15% and 7.5% of the seats in each category (excluding Officer Category) are reserved for SC and ST candidates.
A total of 50 seats (Not more than 15 in either of the school) are earmarked for the wards of personal killed in action.
